Describing the condition of antique furniture in words is very subjective. For instance, an item could be in mint condition, but have a slightly hazy mirror. How would you grade it? We have been buying and selling antiques for over 35 years, and have developed a grading system from one to five which we feel is reasonable.

PRISTINE ORIGINAL
Nice clean finish. Being in better condition all around than would be expected for its age.

GOOD ORIGINAL
Nice clean finish, but might have some slight crazing, a ding here and there. Good original condition for its age.

FAIR ORIGINAL
Showing signs of its age. Finish might be all there, but could use a good cleaning and polishing. Some minor scratches or minor wear might be present.

POOR ORIGINAL
Could use refinishing, unless you like the look of old worn antiques. Might have some stains, etc.

REFINISHED
Completely gone over from the reglueing of chairs to spray finishing (one piece at a time). Done at Memories by our staff in an environmentally friendly atmosphere.

Each item sold retail goes through our cabinet shop to make sure all drawers, doors, etc. work and are detailed (polished, etc.) before being delivered.
